FMU's Owen and Greene promoted in Baseball Minors

Former Francis Marion University right-handed pitcher Dylan Owen has been promoted to the New York Mets AA affiliate Binghamton Mets, while former Patriot outfielder Justin Greene recently moved from the Chicago White Sox's rookie league team to the Class A Kannapolis Intimidators.

Owen was to report to his new squad on Tuesday (Aug. 19).  Pitching for the Class A St. Lucie Mets, Owen recorded a 12-6 record with a 3.43 earned run average in 24 starts.  The Chesterfield native was leading the Florida State League in wins and strikeouts (116 in 133.2 innings).  He recently made his second straight All-Star game appearance at the Class A level.

Greene, a native of Goose Creek, batted .292 with two home runs, 14 runs batted in, and 26 stolen bases in 43 games with the Bristol (Tenn.) Sox.   In six games at Kannapolis of the South Atlantic League, he has batted .280 with five runs scored.
