Svanum shines at Wolfpack Intercollegiate; Pats 14th
RALEIGH, N.C. --- Francis Marion University sophomore Kenneth Svanum fired a two-under-par 69 and an even-par 71 to register a Top-10 standing on the opening day of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, hosted by North Carolina State University. Francis Marion is 14th in the team standings after the opening 36 holes.
The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday at par 71, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
N.C. State's Albin Choi fired a second-round 66, after an opening 69, to take a three-stroke lead in the individual standings.
Duke University holds the overall team lead at 558 (-10), three strokes ahead of the Wolfpack. FMU carded team rounds of 297 and 300 on Monday, and stands only 10 strokes out of ninth place.
Svanum's 140 total has him tied for ninth place. FMU's Sebastian Backlund (76-75=151) is tied for 68th position, while Travis Gantt (75-77=152) is tied for 71st, Kurt Slattery (77-77=154) is tied for 77th, and Andrew Weir (80-80=160) is in 89th place.
