Patriots fall in Alabama, 2-0 in PBC Quarterfinals

MONTEVALLO, AL – Fourth-seeded University of Montevallo scored a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 win over fifth-seeded Francis Marion University, Tuesday evening (Nov. 2) in the quarterfinal round of the Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Tournament.

The loss ends the Patriots' 2010 campaign.  Francis Marion (7-10-1) will lose five seniors off this year's roster: forward Chris Foltanski, goalkeeper Clark Richeson, and defenders Ivan Juric, Justin Kibler, and Julian Ramjohn.

Montevallo outshot Francis Marion 27-5, but Richeson managed 11 saves to keep the Patriots within striking distance.  Richeson ends his career with 322 career stops.

Nathaniel Foster gave the Falcons a 1-0 advantage in the eighth minute with his 13th tally of the season.  The score remained a one-goal edge until Phil Jackson scored on a free kick in the 77th minute.

Junior Cameron Mabee and freshman Stefan Gojic had the only two FMU shots on goal.

Montevallo advances to the PBC Tournament semifinals this Friday in Evans, Ga.
