Francis Marion University cross country coach Mark Bluman has announced that Ryan Woloszyn of Taylors is transferring from Spartanburg Methodist College and will join the Patriot program this fall.

The NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association recently announced its annual list of recipients for the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Awards presented by WeatherPORT – a list that includes 14 student-athletes from Francis Marion University.

The Peach Belt Conference announced that a record 1,079 student-athletes have been named to the 19th-annual Presidential Honor Roll. The list includes 92 student-athletes from Francis Marion University, representing all 12 of its sponsored sports.

Former Patriot Dujuan Harbin dies
Former Francis Marion University cross country runner Dujuan Harbin, 43, passed away on December 20, 2009, at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, S.C. He was a 1990 graduate of Francis Marion.

The Francis Marion University men's and women's cross country teams finished 22nd and 23rd in their respective meets at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships, Saturday morning (Nov. 7) in Wingate, N.C.

Patriot runners 7th and 10th at PBC Championships
The Francis Marion University men's and women's cross country teams placed seventh and 10th at the 2009 PBC Championships Presented by GEICO on a rainy Saturday morning (Oct. 24) at Luther Britt Park in Lumberton, N.C. Columbus State University won the men’s team title for the fifth straight year, while the CSU women took their fourth championship in a row.

Patriots to run at PBC Championships
The Peach Belt Conference will host its 19th Cross Country Championship this Saturday (Oct. 24) at the Luther Britt Park in Lumberton, N.C. The championship is the first of the PBC-GEICO Championship Series and brings together the largest field for a cross country championship the PBC has had since 2003. The women’s 6,000-meter race will begin at 8:30 am while the men's 8,000-meter run follows at 9:15. Admission to the races is free.

A second-place finish by senior Hillary Kiprop helped the Francis Marion University men's cross country team to a second-place finish at Presbyterian College’s Blue Hose Invitational, Friday afternoon (Oct. 2). Led by senior Amanda Doyle’s seventh-place finish the Patriot Women placed fifth.

The Francis Marion University men's and women's cross country teams will open their 2009 schedules on Saturday morning (Sept. 5) when the Patriots compete in the UNC Pembroke Invitational Meet at Luther Britt Park in Lumberton, N.C. The 8,000-meter men’s race will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the 6,000-meter women’s race.
