The NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association recently announced its annual list of recipients for the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Awards presented by WeatherPORT a list that includes 14 student-athletes from Francis Marion University.

92 FMU Student-Athletes named to PBC Presidential Honor Roll
The Peach Belt Conference announced that a record 1,079 student-athletes have been named to the 19th-annual Presidential Honor Roll. The list includes 92 student-athletes from Francis Marion University, representing all 12 of its sponsored sports.

Wolf earns another All-Region softball honor
Francis Marion University senior left-handed softball pitcher Michaela Wolf has been named to another All-Region squad. This time the Littleton, Colo., native has been tabbed for the second-team Louisville Slugger/NFCA Southeast All-Region Team as the pitcher/utility player. This is the third consecutive year she has gained All-Region recognition.

Francis Marion University senior left-handed pitcher Michaela Wolf and junior right fielder Chelle Phillips have been selected to the second-team Daktronics Inc. All-Southeast Region softball team. Wolf was also named to the team in the designated player position, as well as the pitchers spot.

Francis Marion University kept top-ranked and top-seeded North Georgia College & State University off the scoreboard for three innings, but the Patriots were not able to cross home plate themselves and ended up falling to the Saints 5-0 in the championship game of the NCAA Division II Dahlonega Southeast Regional Softball Tournament on Sunday night (May 16).

UNCP won the opener 2-1 as FMU stranded runners on second and third as the game ended.

Members of the 2010 Francis Marion University softball team are teaming up with the local Florence chapter of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) this fall. Softball players have been and will be handing out red ribbons to promote no drinking and driving.
