Francis Marion University junior Dirk Bair captured a three-set win at the No. 5 singles position to complete a marathon comeback for the 14th-ranked Patriots that resulted in a 5-4 victory over 39th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte, Sunday afternoon (Feb. 6) in season-opening men’s tennis action. Jitka Gavdunova.and Mona Blauen combined for three points at the top to help lead the 13th-ranked FMU women to a 6-3 win over the 44th-ranked Queens women.

The Francis Marion University men’s and women’s tennis programs will serve as the host for the 2010 USTA/ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Southeast Regional Championships, Friday through Monday (Sept. 24-27) at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter. Admission is free. Action will begin with doubles play on Friday at noon.
