Patriot Volleyball streak snapped at AASU

SAVANNAH, GA - The Francis Marion University women's volleyball team had its 10-match winning streak snapped on Friday evening (Oct. 10) when the Patriots fell in three games (23-25, 15-25, 22-25) at Peach Belt Conference foe Armstrong Atlantic State University.

The Pirates (15-5, 3-1 PBC) moved into sole possession of first place in the PBC, while Francis Marion falls to 16-5 and 2-1.

Francis Marion was led by freshman Amanda Mitchell's nine kills, senior setter Jenna Kaiser's 22 assists, and sophomore libero Kelsie Deaton's 11 digs.

AASU senior Rindy Vidovich hit .526 with 10 kills and no errors in 19 attempts. Freshman Torrie Bevolo notched 11 kills, while sophomore Hannah Segebart tallied 32 assists and freshman Casey Howett notched 20 digs.

In a matchup that featured the top two hitting teams in the Peach Belt, the Pirates had the edge, hitting .220 for the match - sparked by a solid game two in which AASU collected 16 kills and hit .448 - while the Patriots hit just .092.

Francis Marion returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 16) when the Patriots host USC Aiken at 7 p.m. and the squad participates in the "Dig Pink" National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally.
