FMU Volleyball to host Dig Pink match on Oct. 25

The Side-Out Foundation, Francis Marion University Volleyball, and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority will combine forces to host the annual Dig Pink Volleyball Match, Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. against Coker College.

In the fall of 2011, hundreds of teams from around the country will participate in the “Dig Pink” National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally. The Patriot volleyball program will continue its tradition of participation in the rally by hosting Coker on October 25 at 7 p.m., in the Smith University Center.

This will be an event we hope involves a large number of individuals in the community.  We aim to raise funds to help eradicate breast cancer.  We hope that “Dig Pink” attendees will not only cheer the players on as they compete on the court, but will also support the cause by donating funds AND making a statement by wearing pink to the match.  This is our fourth year supporting this great event. 

The proceeds from all donations will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a national 501(c)(3) located in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area (Tax ID # 20-2510044).  Cash or check (payable to The Side-Out Foundation – please reference Francis Marion University Volleyball in the memo or note portion of the check) donations are welcome at the match, or you may simply go online to https://www.side-out.org/application/ous/fundraising_page/2573 to make a donation by credit card.

The foundation’s name underscores the purpose of the organization – “Side-Out” in volleyball occurs when one team wins a point while its opponent is serving, thereby regaining serve or control of play.  Likewise in the war against breast cancer, the Side-Out Foundation will support health care professionals in their pursuit of practical solutions for women and men with this dreaded disease thus enabling those affected to regain control of their lives and live them to the fullest.
